As Dean watched the puppy parade move across campus, he felt his eyes begin to well up with tears. He heaved a watery sigh as he pulled out a small packet of tissues and wiped at his eyes. As he tucked the rest away, he glanced around. Most attention was focused on the puppies, but there were a few people scanning the gawkers, clearly more interested in cute people than cute puppies.
Just as he was shifting his attention back to the adorable but distant display in front of the admin building, someone called his name. When he turned to look, tissue lifted to wipe away another tear, he had to suppress a groan.
“What’s up, tear-jerker?” Blane strolled over as they leered at a gaggle of women enjoying the parade not that far from where Dean stood.
Dean sighed and shook his head. “Just enjoying the puppy parade, Blane.”
“Moved to tears? Sounds like you.” Blane stopped at Dean’s side, their tall, muscular form towering over Blane’s much more slight frame.
Dean rolled his eyes. “Yep. Crying again. You know me.”
“It’s always something. You’re the softest guy I know. You cry like it’s nothing. Sometimes out of nowhere.” Blane frowned. “Couldn’t be me. I gotta save it for special occasions, you know?”
Dean chuckled. “Sure. Like trying to prove what a sensitive person you are so someone will sleep with you.”
“Exactly.” Blane smirked again. “Like I said. Special occasions.”
Dean let silence reclaim their conversation but, just as the parade was leaving for another part of campus, Blane spoke again. “So what was it this time? Too cute? Moved by one with only one leg or something?”
Dean blew his nose into his tissue and shook his head. “No. We’re downwind and I’ve got really bad allergies.”
